Mid-Term meta-post

Upon re-reading my own blog posts one theme shows up in the majority of them. It is the role of women that I find myself talking about the most. I feel this observation shows that the role of women in literature is one that I find very interesting and worth talking about more than once. When I began talking about women in reference to “Taming of the Shrew” I made the comment that women would be treated the way that they allowed themselves to be treated and therefore were considered people rather than property. In my post about the women in Shakespeare’s history plays I further evaluated the role of women and was not happy with what I found. Looking back I do not think we have read a play where I was pleased with a female character. I think something worth revisiting would be to overlook all of the works that we have read to try to find any redeeming quality in a Shakespearean woman. I think that the weekly blog post assignment helps me to further understand what we read because I am the kind of person who understands through talking things out.
